Steam quality test include testing for non-condensable gas, over-heat and dryness. It is also required to get samples of the steam condensate for chemical analysis. The tests involved in pure steam verification require a continuous supply of saturated steam, preferably from the production line that supplies your sterilization system.
Large amount of non-condensable gases will hinder the sterilization effect. Little moisture carried in the suspension may cause the steam to become overheated as it expands into the chamber, but too much moisture may cause wet load problem. That is the reason why these three tests need to be done to ensure sterilization effect.
When the steam system is shut down regularly or irregularly, there will be a large amount of air in the distribution system when it is restarted. In this case, it is recommended to preform a exhaust procedure, and steam quality testing should be performed regularly.
