Contactless smart cards
A second card type is the contactless smart card, in which the card communicates with and is powered by the reader through RF inductiontechnology (at data rates of 106–848 kbit/s). These cards require only proximity to an antenna to communicate. Like smart cards with contacts, contactless cards do not have an internal power source.
