The system is based on the Ethernet structure, acts up to the TCP/IP protocol, and combines the mature and stable Internet technology with intelligent centralized meter reading technology by international advanced PLC technology. It makes the remote meter reading and PLC network into one and supplies the householders the PLC online channels through broadband network formed by meter reading system and he existing low voltage power line network resources. The system is composed of a network meter interface unit with built-in PLC bridge, network data concentrator unit and central management system, with meter reading management soft wares. It transmits the data through PLC network, sub district broadband network and PLC backbone network which is an important technical means used to strengthen management of electric marketing automation.
System operating principles:
1. The installed meter interface unit collects meter-readings by using the surplus hookup wires to join up meters in series. While the PLC bridge built in meter interface unit offers online channels to householders.
2. The meter interface unit which connects to sub district broadband network could communicate with data concentrator unit by TCP/IP protocol so as to transmit local data.
3. The data concentrator unit which accesses to PLC backbone network could communicate with the central station to carry out the remote data transmission.
4. The central station links to the marketing system of Power Company that is to play the functions of recording, accounting and charging.
