Metal mesh sand screen is a combination of fixed pore geometry & high strength structural support. It usually consists of a single or multiple layers of diffusion boned (sintered) laminates. It is often used in standalone completions or gravel-packed wells and cased hole.
Sintered metal mesh screen provides broad range of opening ratings from 40 micron to 1000 micron. Screen material is a vital element in sand screen selection and improving well performance. Generally speaking, stainless steel 304, 304L, 316, 316L and other Inconel or Monel special alloy are used.
