Corrosion Resistance/Alumina/ Porous ceramics for Wicking Media/innovacera

1. Porous ceramics Introduction:

Porosity has been a significant problem for many years in ceramics manufacturing and application so scientists, engineers make every effort to investigate the mechanism of the pore generation in ceramic material and to improve the processing routes that can produce ceramics with zero porosity.

The unique characteristics and quality of our porous ceramics allow them to be used in a variety of applications. The natural wetting abilities of a porous ceramic, the uniform pore sizing, and inert raw materials provide an excellent finished product for research or industrial applications. Combine these attractive features with the strength and durability capabilities of a variety of ceramic shapes and you have a limitless number of excellent possibilities.

The range of Innovcera porous ceramics are made from aluminum oxide and silicon carbide. The strong, uniform porous ceramic has 40-50% open porosity with a tortuous pore structure and is available in pore sizes ranging from 6 to 90 microns.

2.  Porous ceramics features:

1) Maximum Temperature

Up to 1000C for porous ceramic, limited only by sealants, gaskets or hardware materials.

2) Corrosion Resistance

Porous ceramics are resistant to most acids, except for Hydrofluoric Acid and Phosphoric Acid. In alkaline solutions, porous ceramics are resistant up to pH9. It is also resistant to organic solvents. The sealants, gaskets and/or hardware materials used, may be the limiting factor in certain fluids.

3) Cleanability

Porous ceramic is cleanable by a variety of methods, depending on type of contaminant to be removed. Methods include spraying, brushing, backwashing, oven firing, dilute acid cleaning, solvent cleaning, steam cleaning and ultrasonic cleaning

Porous ceramics are used for:

  • Vacuum Chucks

  • Filters

  • Diffusers

  • Air Bearings

  • Permeable Substrates

  • Dispersion Media

  • Ash Handling

  • Wicking Media

  • Fluidized Bed Plates

  • Specialty Spargers

  • Breathers – Vents

Porous ceramics are used where uniform controlled pore size is required in chemical process, semiconductor, pharmaceutical and manufacturing applications.
