Here are some of the many steps taken in the manufacture of every single sock; to begin with only the finest yarns are used whether in Wool, high quality, long staple Turkish cotton (Turkish cotton also has good antipilling and dyeability properties) or the ultimate in luxury, angora and cashmere. Before any yarn is knitted, it is subjected to stringent checks to establish that such qualities as moisture content, count and color fastness conform to the standards demanded. Knitting During the knitting process each sock is checked as it comes off the knitting machine to ensure that it meets the quality standards demanded. Toe Seaming This highly skilled operation closes each individual stitch using the process known as Seaming by hand . Dyeing The socks are then washed to remove impurities, but taking care not to impair the natural fibres. During dyeing and washing process & techniques are used which have been specially developed to give the softness of hand which Socks are renowned world wide. Boarding Once washed the socks are dried on flat foot shaped boards. Socks are then steam pressed by Heliot boarding. Packaging For the first time now socks are paired, but not before each sock has again been carefully examined by hand to ensure that it meets high standards. Once again each pair is examined prior to being packaged into boxes ready for dispatch to markets around the world.
