The fixed type Pot bearing consists of a tight fitting metallic piston element inside the pot element.
Encapsulated within this piston / pot assembly is an elastomeric (neoprene) disc complete with the special sealing device.
Under load, this encapsulated elastomeric disc acts in a manner similar to a confined fluid, thus permitting the pot and piston to tilt relative to each other. Such 'tilting' is commonly referred to as 'rotation'.
The Pot fixed bearing provides tilt (rotation) in any direction, whilst at the same time is constrained horizontally.
Shear keys are provided to top and bottom members to achieve retention within the structure.
