Description:Samarium Cobalt-SmCo magnet Sintered Smco and bonded SmCo magnet SmCo (Samarium Cobalt) Magnet is one of kind of rare earth magnet with a high percentage of samarium, which is relatively stable against temperature change. With high energy product and excellent coercive force, this material is ideally compact and suitable to highly efficient machines and components, and widely used in application in which higher operation temperature, higher corrosion and oxidation resistance are crucial. Two common compositions of this kind of magnet are Sm1Co5 and Sm2Co17. As the second generation of Rare Earth permanent magnet available since early 1970's, SmCo not only has high energy ranging from 14MGOe to 30MGOe and reliable coercive force, but also exhibits the best temperature characteristics in Rare Earth material family. Compared with NdFeB, SmCo is suitable for higher temperature than 200 degree centigrade and has greater magnetic output at temperatures above 150 degree centigrade, also it's less subject to corrosion and usually does not require surface protection. Due to high brittleness and powerful magnetic force of Samarium Cobalt product, it must be handled with special care. Advantages for using SmCo: Extremely high magnetic properties Outstanding thermal stability Excellent corrosion resistance Disadvantages: Most expensive High brittleness SmCo is the ideal material in applications such as pump couplings, sensors, servo-motors, particularly where the magnet is required to service at elevated temperatures, across a broad temperature range or in a corrosive environment.
