indian kantha quilts consist of several layers of recycled cotton or silk saris. they are held together by a simple, running, “kantha” stitch that is applied row after row and gives the fabric its unique, slightly wrinkled effect. this kind of embroidery is most popular with the rural women of bangladesh and west bengal in india, who spend hour upon hour creating these wonderful textile pieces, each one-of-a-kind. kantha quilts are decorative as well as useful – as day blankets, bed covers, curtains, wall hangings - or for sewing!

measurements: about 45 x 45 cm
put this lovely, big kantha quilt cushion on your sofa or bed - it will make them look interestingly exotic! the pillow case is made from kantha quilt scraps in shades of light brown, beige and moss green - I have sewn them together and left the edges raw, either side looks pretty - the pillow case is adorned with a little kantha quilt scrap tassel and has an opening for inserting the pillow insert on one side, which can be tied closed with two straps.
