What is Jute ?
Jute is a fibrous (bast) spinning plant, the unique properties of which are known worldwide. It belongs to the family of fake: the growth of the plant reaches a height of up to 3.5 meters, the stem - upright, the root system - rod, leaves - oval - lanceolate, toothed. Currently, there are about 40 species.
For the cultivation of this plant needs moist and warm climate with a temperature range 24-37 ° C. The most favorable conditions for growth are in the Asian sub-tropical regions. The largest cultivation area for jute is Bangladesh and India.
Jute is known to people since ancient times: it is widely used for the manufacture of coarse clothing, ropes and cables, and the young shoots of the plant were used as food. However, the commercial use of jute fiber is only towards the end of the 18th century. By that time, new technology that allows it to spin a yarn of jute fiber and fabric manufacture. Thanks to the peculiarities of its structure jute fiber has high strength, while it is hard and rough, it is impossible to get out of yarn for the production of thin fabrics.
For a long time, mostly used only unique property of jute fiber - high absorbability.
