1), Introduction of Waterproof Breathable Membrane
- Breathable Membrane is a water resistant membrane but with high vapour permeability, use as diffusion open roofing felts under pitched roof tile or vapour permeable barrier housewraps on timber frame walls
- Breather membrane functions as a weather-resistant barrier, preventing rain from getting into the roof or wall assembly while allowing water vapor to pass to the exterior.
- Breather membrane may also serve as an air barrier if it is sealed carefully at seams.
- Breathable Membrane have good "water resistance", good "water vapor permeability", and good "air barrier properties".
4), Performance of Breathable Membrane:
Resist liquid water passing through, but allow water vapour to pass through.
5), Structure of Breathable Membrane:
All SHANQUAN vapour permeable membranes are 3 layers thermal laminated:
PP non-woven fabric + PE fuctional film + PP non-woven fabric
Spun-bonded polypropylene non-woven fabric layers for protection and reinforcement.
Micro-porous polyethylene film is the functional layer which is water-resistant but allow water vapour to pass through.

Our Breathable membrane mainly used as underlay for pitched roof and enclosure protection for insulation layer of wall.

USAGE
The purpose of the membrane is to allow water vapour to permeate through from the insulation into the cavity above and yet prevent water from the cavity entering the quilt. Breather membranes are installed over the top of quilt insulation and below the external profiled sheet.
