How do I hang my Greenfield® Vertical Garden Wall Planter?

The Vertical  garden wall planter features heavy-duty grommets spaced at handle or eyelet intervals, so you can secure it to any vertical surface with hooks, wood screws or any adequate fastener. The largest size (25 Pockets) weighs about 680g when fully planted, so be sure to secure it to a structure that can hold that much weight.

Where should I locate my Greenfield® Vertical Garden Wall Planter?

Like a traditional garden, you should locate your Vertical Flora garden wall planter in an area that gets full sun for at least six hours per day. If possible, locate it near a water source. If your location doesn’t get full sun until the afternoon, face to the southeast to maximize exposure.

How do you plan on watering your garden?

Most vertical gardens will need to be watered daily. Depending on the size and location of your garden this could require that the garden be taken off the wall and moved to a place suitable for water drainage. If this is not something you will be able to maintain, you may need to consider adding an automatic irrigation system which will both water your plants automatically on the schedule you set and catch any excess water that drains from the garden during watering  sessions. 

What kind of plants can be grown in a vertical garden?

The Greenfield® vertical wall planter is ideal for most vegetables, herbs and flowering plants. Compact and bush-type varieties grow especially well. The key is plant placement. Arrange plants so that taller varieties do not shade smaller plants as they grow. Place herbs, beans, peppers, broccoli and other non-sprawling plants in the upper part of the  Greenfield® Vertical Wall Planter, and sprawling varieties, like squash and pickles, in the bottom chambers.

Does the Greenfield® Vertical Garden Wall Planter require special potting soil?

No, any good quality, pre-mixed potting soil will work well, as long as it contains Vermiculite, Perlite or similar conditioner to prevent soil compaction. You can also make your own growing medium by mixing peat moss or any type of expanding sphagnum with non-burning types of time-release fertilizers, such as blood meal, composted manure, or dry plant foods. Do not use any plant foods that kill microbes. You may also add rice husks or similar media to enhance drainage. Depending on the plants you select, you may also add a small amount of garden lime to raise the pH level. Likewise, adding pelletized phosphate will help promote root development, beautiful blooms and produce.
