For the same tyre contact area, it would appear that the narrower the tyre combination (or footprint), the more damaging it is. Therefore, for low profile tyre widths increasing from the normal tyre width to the super single tyre width, the damaging power will decrease in inverse proportion to the increasing width (for other factors remaining constant, ie. tyre pressure and tread pattern). That is, super single tyres on the steer axle are significantly less damaging than normal steer tyres, for the same loading.
