DESCRIPTION
The vinyl micro tubing is used primarily as the feeder line in the installation of drip irrigation or low volume irrigation systems. The vinyl micro tubing is used as feeder lines from the ½ inch drip tubing to extend drip emitters or micro sprinklers to the plants, as extensions from the 4, 6, and 12-outlet drip manifolds, or as the supply line for a complete ¼ inch drip system. The Drip Store’s 1/4 inch vinyl micro tubing is flexible and relatively soft and is available from DIG with .245 OD in 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 3000 foot coils.
APPLICATIONS
- The basic use of the ¼ inch micro tubing is as a feeder line from the 1/2" drip tubing to drip emitters or micro sprinklers, to extend from a 12-outlet drip manifold, or as part of a complete system using the ¼ inch as the main lateral. The micro tubing may be installed above the ground and covered with mulch to blend with the landscape, or extended from the ½ inch drip tubing and installed below the ground. The micro tubing is available in vinyl or low-density polyethylene; the vinyl is softer than polyethylene and both are made from high quality vinyl resin with added carbon black compounds.

INSTRUCTION
1/4 inch micro tubing installation recommendations
The basic use of 1/4” micro tubing is as a feeder line from the ½ inch drip tubing to the drip emitters or micro sprinklers.
- 1. First, insert ¼ inch barbed connector, tee, or elbow (model SF001, 2, 3, 4 or others) into the end of the micro tubing
- 2. From the drip tubing extend measured lengths of the ¼ inch micro tubing to the plant or cluster of plants
- 3. Punch a hole into the drip tubing and insert the other end of the ¼ inch barbed connector, tee, or elbow into the drip tubing hole
- 4. Insert the other end of the micro tubing into the drip emitter barb near the plant, and secure with a stake (model S005). We recommend using two outlets per each plant
- To start a system from a faucet, first connect a backflow device (model D45). If water quality is a concern, install a fine mesh 3/4" filter with 155-mesh. Then install a 25 or 30 PSI pressure regulator.
- 1. Connect a ¼ inch micro tubing to the ¾ inch x ¼ inch hose thread adapter (model A001) by forcing the end of the micro tubing into the compression side of the adapter while moving the tubing from side to side, and connect the ¾ inch side into the facet and after the pressure regulator
- 2. Uncoil the micro tubing and lay it out adjacent to the plants to be irrigated
- 3. Near each plant or container cut the micro tubing and install a ¼” tee (SF003) or in-line drip emitter
- 4. Connect another length of ¼ inch micro tubing to the open outlet on the ¼ inch tee and extend it out to the plant location or to the container
- 5. Insert the other end of the micro tubing into the drip emitter’s barbed inlet and secure it near the plant with a stabilizer stake (model S005)
- Note: Open the supply valve momentarily and flush out the line(s) before inserting emitters or other emission devices
- It is not recommended to use the vinyl micro tubing at high temperatures or at pressures above 30 PSI. At high temperatures and pressures the micro tubing may separate from the barbed fittings
