FERTICELL-CALCIUM-880
Calcium is considered a secondary plant nutrient. Only nitrogen and potassium are required in larger amounts by plants.
What is Ferticell Calcium-880?
Ferticell-Calcium-880 is a calcium organic complex, with Calcium available to the plants. It contains a Natural Organic Bio-activator, unicellular active algae cells extracts to encourage the biological activity.
It is an organic product for foliar and soil application.
Ferticell-Calcium-880 will stay in suspension for an indefinite period of time in the mixing tank when adding 1 part of Ferticell-Calcium-880 mixed with 300 parts of water. It may require minimal agitation.
Ferticell-Calcium-880 facilitates the drop dispersion/spread on the leaf surface increasing the product absorption.
PROPERTIES
Calcium Corrector:
Calcium is a macro element slightly mobile in the plant. This is the reason why it is necessary to carry out regular applications of Ferticell-Calcium-880 throughout the crop season. It is especially important during the fruit formation and growth, by means of an efficient irrigation system.
Ferticell-Calcium-880 supplies Calcium increasing the fruit firmness, quality and improves the shelf life quality after harvest.
What is the CALCIUM’S role in the plant??
Calcium plays a very active role in the uptake of water and nutrients by neutralizing organic acids in the plant. Deficiencies in Calcium cause many well documented fruit and vegetable disorders, such as bitter pit in apples, blossom end rot in tomatoes and soft bottom in melons. Calcium protects the plant by acting as a buffer against stress caused by soil toxicity or extremes of acidity or alkalinity. Calcium also makes nutrients available to the plant for higher energy. Calcium’s ability to reduce or prevent infections comes from its ability to increase cuticular thickness and cell turgor. Plants with thicker cuticles and more cell turgor are less susceptible to infection and, if infected, these plants are better able to fight off infection. For continued healthy growth, a readily available supply of calcium is essential. It is known that calcium deficiencies are becoming more prevalent and usually show up at the time of fruiting. FERTICELL-CALCIUM-880 can help correct these calcium deficiencies when used as recommended. FERTICELL-CALCIUM-880 is a liquid organic product for foliar and soil application. It is non-phytotoxic. FERTICELL-CALCIUM-880 is available and absorbed by the leaf surface. FERTICELL-CALCIUM-880 is an effective dispersing agent when applied with other foliar spray chemicals. Foliar application is the quickest method to increase a plant’s Calcium level because it delivers the element directly to the effected areas (plant tissue, leaves and fruit).
The Functions of Calcium
Every plant needs calcium to grow.
Once fixed, calcium is not mobile in the plant. It is an important constituent of cell walls and can only be supplied in the xylem sap. Thus, if the plant runs out of a supply of calcium, it cannot remobilize calcium from older tissues.

Calcium Deficiency
Calcium deficiency symptoms in crops are often called physiological disorders.
It is important to remember that such problems are caused by an inadequate supply of calcium to the affected tissues. These deficiencies can occur even when the soil appears to have an adequate presence of calcium.
Symptoms of calcium deficiency:
- Necrosis at the tips and margins of young leaves
- Bulb and fruit abnormalities
- Deformation of affected leaves
- Highly branched, short, brown root systems
- Severe, stunted growth
- General chlorosis
Toxicity-Issues
For all practical purposes, calcium is not considered to be toxic to plants. Although rare, excess calcium levels in the soil can reduce a plant’s uptake of other nutrients such as phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, boron, copper, iron, or zinc, resulting in deficiencies of these nutrients.
Factors Affecting Calcium Availability
Calcium is found in many minerals in soil, but is relatively insoluble in this state.
Calcium is not considered a leachable nutrient. High levels of other cations such as magnesium, ammonium, iron, aluminium and especially potassium, will reduce the calcium uptake in some crops. A common misconception is that if the pH is high, adequate calcium is present. This is not always true.
Foliar applications are the quickest method to increase a plant’s Calcium level because it delivers the element directly to the effected areas (plant tissue, leaves and fruit).
APPLICATION
Application rates will vary due to soil tilling methods, climate conditions and frequency of application. The rates are made for CALCIUM CORRECTION, for normal crop growing, use HALF of the suggested quantity.
Suggested Application Rate for correction.
Vegetables Crop:
Beans, Potatoes, sweet corn, peas, tomatoes
Foliar:1/4 to 1/2 gallon per acre. (1 to 1.7 litres per 4000 m2).
With sufficient water for thorough coverage
2.5 to 4 litres per hectare.
Field Crop:
Corn, Cane, cotton, dry beans, sorghum, sugar cane, sugar beet, etc..
Foliar:1/4 to1/2 gallon per acre. (1 to 1.7 litres per 4000 m2), per application
With sufficient water for thorough coverage

Trees and Vine Crop:
Apple, avocado, almond, apricot, citrus, berry, grape, olive, pear, peach, pistachio, plum, walnut
Foliar:1/2 gallon per acre, per application.
2 litres /4000 M2 mixed with 500 of water.
5 litres mixed with water per hectare.
Vine Foliar:1/2 gallon per acre, mixed with 30 gallons of water per application.
1,7 litres/4000 M2 mixed with 400 litres of water
4 litres mixed with water per hectare.
Spray foliage until slightly damp. Apply to foliage during early morning or late afternoon. Apply with any type of spray equipment.
IMPORTANT: Always add product last to spray tank containing required amount of water. To avoid white areas on the fruit and leaves, do not apply the product one month before harvest.
