Brown Fused Alumina abrasive is electrically fused in an arc furnace from a mixture of bauxite, coke (anthracite) as main raw materal at high temperature.
It's chemical composition contains
Al2O3, TiO2, and small amount of SiO2, and Fe2O3, etc,.
Microhardness:1800-2200 kg/mm2,
toughness higher than silicon carbide.
Abrasive articles made of it is suited for grinding metals of high-tensile strength such as steel, annealed malleable iron and hard bronze etc..Browm fused alumina can also be used for making high-class refractory products.
