It can be made into higher aliphatic alcohol by adding hydrogen,

and also can be directly used as diesel fuel and fuel or compound burning,to reduce the emissions of sulfur dioxide.

It is also the raw material of producing the degreaser,penetrant, emulsifier and paint.
