Olive Oil
Olive oil is one of the most beneficial natural products and is known to have very high nutritive value since its discovery about 5,000 years ago. Olive oil is extracted from the crop of the olive tree which is native to the Mediterranean basin.
Olive oil was commonly used in Egypt as a cosmetic, and is still used in many Mediterranean countries as a natural medicine. Uses of Olive oil are many and it is so versatile that it can be used both internally and externally. Health benefits of olive oil range from promoting better digestion, stimulating metabolism to lubricating mucous membranes and as olive oil is full of vitamins, minerals and proteins, it can also be used to keep skin, nails, and hair healthy and beautiful.
Benefits of Olive Oil
Olive oil for skin : Olive oil is a very effective beauty treatment. Adding a little bit of olive oil to your bath can make you feel luxuriant. The olive oil hydrates your body and keeps your skin soft and supple. Add to this a few drops of lavender essential oil and get ready for a treat. This bath is very rejuvenating and also helps you relax. If some parts of your skin are extremely dry and rough, simply take a few drops of the oil and massage onto the dry skin. You may even combine olive oil with sugar and make a scrub to be used on dry and flaky skin. Olive oil can also be combined with almond oil for skin beauty products that prevent wrinkles.
Olive oil for face : Since olive oil has excellent hydrating and moisturizing qualities, it can be used to create a facial mask that makes the skin feel soft and supple. Mix together the yolk of an egg, honey, and some olive oil. Beat all these together till it becomes a well-blended mixture. Now apply this on the face, and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
Olive oil for hair : There are two ways of using olive oil for the hair. The most popular one is to heat the oil a little, and then apply it generously all over the scalp before sleeping in. Leave it overnight and wash in the morning. Another way is to simply add olive oil to your conditioner. Every time you condition your hair, the olive oil will soothe your scalp and moisturize it.
