Zeolites are hydrated aluminosilicates characterized by high surface areas and high cation exchange capacities. There are more than 40 types of natural zeolite minerals. Clinoptilolite (from the Heulandite group) is the most common and suitable natural zeolite type for commercial and industrial applications. More than 90% of the world's zeolite production is clinoptilolite.

Clinoptilolite Zeolite (aluminum silicate) is a natural volcanic mineral, a micro porous inorganic mineral with an open, stable, three dimensional honeycomb structure negatively charged. The structure loosely holds cations (negatively charged ions) which are available for exchange. The ability to exchange one cation for another is called "cation exchange capacity"; Ningshu Zeolite with high CEC vaule "186meq/100g".

Natural zeolite is one of the best natural materials available for water filtration. Its high porosity and specific surface area combined

with its natural cation exchange capacity make it far superior to sand and other minerals used for water filtration.

Natural zeolite removes particulate contamination down to 10µm and below, it adsorbs dissolved cations such as Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn,

and heavy metals such as Pb and As, and it can remove odours and some organic contaminants.

Natural zeolite has a particular affinity for ammonium ions and is used successfully in many industrial water treatment to

remove high levels of ammonium ions from waste water. It is also employed to remove heavy metal contamination from industrial effluent.

Natural zeolite is the new reference material for swimming pool filter media. It is rapidly replacing sand as the product of choice for private and public swimming pools,

and spas. It is used in the same way as sand in the same type of filter system giving superior performance and improved water quality.
