Seabuckthorn can significantly improve the immune function in the body. 1,000 years ago, it was discovered that local residents regularly eating this fresh fruit rarely got sick, and those with gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases were often recovered without medical treatment. In Tibetan medicine, lamas call its fruit a panacea.
- Functions of the active ingredient
Seabuckthorn with seed oil 10% -12% and pulp oil 14% -18% is a very good raw material for extracting seabuckthorn oil.
The plant has over 100 kinds of lipid compositions. Phospholipid weight content is 0.5% to 0.6% in fruit and 0.9% to 1.10% in oil including lecithin, cephalin, phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylinositol (PI), phosphatidyl glycerol (PG), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phospholipid acid (PA), N-acetyl - phosphatidyl cholestyramine, hemolytic N-acetyl - phosphatidyl cholestyramine, hemolytic phosphatidylinositol (Lyso-PI), and hemolytic lysophosphatidylcholine (Lyso - PC). Goncharova et al studied polar lipids in leaves whose extract contains 12.1% phospholipids (PCs, PEs, PGs and PIs) and 36.5% glycolipids. The fruit is rich in fat and has unsaturated fatty acid content of 60% to 90%, which is dominated by oleic, linoleic and linolenic acid.
