Founded in July 2014, Gansu Alkog Sea-buckthorn Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. lies in Zhang County Industrial Park covering an area of 13500 m2. Now it has more than 100 employees and more than 20 million yuan of fixed assets. It has advanced CO2 above-critical sea-buckthorn oil extraction plant and perfect quality control and inspection means, and is a high tech enterprise incorporating production and sales. It mainly produces sea-buckthorn materials, sea-buckthorn oil, sea-buckthorn health products, sea-buckthorn foods, sea-buckthorn personal care products, and sea-buckthorn cosmetics. As a subordinate enterprise managed by the Water Resources Department of Shaanxi Province, the Company has cooperated with the Government of Wuqi County, Shaanxi, to build a production base with an area of 200 mu for seabuckthorn, resulting in adequate supply of raw materials. In northern Shaanxi where the base is, the climate and soil are very suitable for growing seabuckthorn, which tends to yield high-quality fruits that are big, plum, natural, green and pollution-free. (Northern Shaanxi belongs to the temperate continental monsoon climate zone and westerlies with abundant sunshine, distinct seasons, variable climate, big temperature difference, drought and rare rain.)

Seabuckthorn is a medicinal food containing vitamins, trace elements, amino acids and other biologically active substances. With a long history of more than two hundred million years on earth, this plant can survive in the harsh environment of the desert and alpine mountains. It is the only plant growing in the area of feldspathic sandstone called the cancer of the Earth, a plant growing in pollute-free environment and called the VC King in the world of plants. It is the most ecologically valuable in the large-scale development of the western region in China. It is recorded in Chinese Pharmacopoeia and pharmacopoeias in other parts of the world, and recognized as a medicinal and edible plant by the China’s Ministry of Health.
