What is Black Currant Extract ?

    Black currant extract is a collection of crude mixtures extracted from fruit of 

Ribes nigrum L.. In other words, black currant extract is a concentrated mixture 

made by extracting (or ''pulling'') black currant's chemical constituents out of the 

inert plant fiber (cellulose) with a solution of grain alcohol and water. Good black 

currant extract should optimally preserve the aroma, taste and biological activity 

of black currant from which it is made.

 

Function:

1.An infusion is used in the treatment of dropsy, rheumatic pain and whooping cough,

 and can also be used externally on slow-healing cuts and abscesses.

2.It can be used as a gargle for sore throats and mouth ulcers.
3.The oil from the seed is added to skin preparations and cosmetics. 

4.It is often combined with vitamin E to prevent oxidation.

 

Application

1. Applied in pharmaceutical field, black currant extract is used to improve body 

immunity blood vessel;

2. Applied in food and drink field, black currant extract is also widely used as 

natural coloring.

 

 

Mechanism

Anthocyanidins have putative antioxidant and radical-scavenging effects which

may protect cells from oxidative damage and reduce risk of cardiovascular

diseases and cancer. One theory is that dietary intake of Anthocyanidins may

inhibit development of obesity and diabetes as well as contain inflammatory

mechanisms. And it is said it have eyesight improving effects. Other studies

have generally shown that the glucoside derivative of Anthocyanidins may have

a role in cancer therapy.
