Electro-optic Q Switched series working theory

Electro-optic Q---switched instrument means to add a polarizer and a KD*P crystal in the laser resonator.The light passes through the polarizer into linearly polarized light ,if the KD*P crystal add λ/4 voltage, due to the pockles effect ,make the trip through the crystal linearly polarized light vibration direction change of 1/2.If the KD*P crystal has not voltage ,back through the crystal linearly polarized light vibration direction unchanged .Thus ,when the crystals have voltage ,beam is not through resonant cavity ,and the resonant cavity at low Q state .Due to external excitation , the population will increase rapidly .When the voltage on the crystal suddenly removal ,the beam can be freely throght the resonant cavity , the resonant cavity at high Q value .There by it produced laser pulse .Electro--optic Q--switched fast ,can be in 10-8 seconds to complete a switch function ,the peak power of the laser reaches the gigawatt level .If the original resonant cavity laser is linearly polarized in the device , electro---optic Q---switched measures need not be placed polarizing plate.
