Working Pinciple:
The laser hand piece is gently moved across the treatment area and the laser energy penetrates deep into the tissues. The melanin pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the laser energy and the gradual build up of heat, damages the structures that support the growth of the hair. The hair will fall out over 2-3 weeks and new hair will not grow out of that follicle because it has been destroyed. As the hand piece is continuously moved over the treatment area, there is less possibility of areas being missed.

What causes excess hair?
Hair grows in cycles and many factors influence growth, including age, medications, ethnicity, hormones and genetics.
Is treatment safe?
Treatment is safe and effective when performed by an experienced, highly trained professional. It is important to use the correct apparatus at the correct settings to ensure optimum results and minimal side effects. Prior to treatment a full consultation and test patch should be carried out, where you can discuss the treatment and have any questions fully explained. Treatment can now also be safely carried out on all skin types.
How is the treatment carried out?
The hair will be shaved just above the skin, and you will be asked to wear glasses to protect your eyes. A cold gel will be spread over the treatment area. The hand piece will be moved across the skin delivering gentle heat. After treatment is completed the gel will be wiped away. The treated hair will fall out over the next 2-3 weeks.
Does it hurt?
The treatment is virtually painless and has been compared to a hot stone massage. You will feel a gradual build up of heat and may feel the occasional pull as the follicles shrink.
What can be expected following treatment?
Hairs will fall out over a couple of weeks. Your treatment sessions will be carried out at six weekly intervals, to allow for dormant hairs to grow through. Hairs must be in the growing phase to be effectively treated. It is necessary to have between 5 and 10 treatments to ensure that all dormant follicles have been treated. As the number of treatments progress, the hairs in the area will become more sparse as more of the hair follicles are eliminated. At any time in the future, new hair follicles can be activated, and follow up treatments may be required.
Possible side effects
Side effects are rare. You may experience some redness or mild swelling at the treatment site, which subsides within a couple of hours. In rare occasions some blistering or bruising may occur. Limiting sun exposure before and after each treatment will minimise the risk of complications.
