What is “Shoga yu” ?
In Japanese “Shoga” means ginger and “yu” means hot water, so “Shoga yu” refers to ginger tea.
Though ginger tea also exists in China, Korea and etc., “thick” ginger tea is peculiar to Japan.
Characteristics of our Shoga yu (Ginger tea)
Thickened by arrowroot starch, it’s soft and pleasant on the tongue and warms the body.
Mild pungency of ginger is well harmonized with sweetness of brown sugar.
Dried ginger chips enhance the flavor.
Directions
1. Put 1 pack Shoga yu (Ginger tea) powder into a cup.
2. Pour 150ml hot water into a cup.
3. Stir well and the liquid gets thickend, enjoy it.
Decrease the amount of hot water and you can enjoy thicker one.
Cool down and then cool in the fridge, and it becomes jelly-like sweets.
