TUCSEN 2.0MP Cell pad are turn our concept of what a microscope camera is on its head. It's time to accept that our old definition is no longer valid. We should come up with a new one, one that takes into account more than just the device's features, but also what these products enable us to do.

Out with the Old

The old definition for microscope camera is based entirely on its feature set:

Microscope camera are PC based devices with utilize a USB2.0 cable to connect camera with PC. After installation driver and windows application, you can preview and take microscope image then.

Therefore, owning a microscope camera became synonymous with becoming your own IT department. From simple tasks such as arranging for a PC for the microscope, to more complicated ones such as resolving the PC and USB2.0 camera compatible issues, microscope camera users had a lot of responsibility.

In with the New

And the something happened, other microscope cameras started getting the same abilities that these vaunted microscope camera had, such as higher megapixel resolution, or even upgraded applications. These "new" devices, usually doing the same things that microscope camera do, and at a lower price.

So what makes the previous class of devices "microscope camera" but not the newer ones? Hence my call for redefining what a microscope camera is.

Despite the similar features that can be boasted by all cameras, microscope camera are valued because they enable previewing microscope image on screen, documentation microscope image, and do image processing by application.

My proposed new definition is this:

Microscope camera are imaging devices which utilize built-in screen and built-in software to enhance the user experience of microscopy itself. Simple speaking, this expands the definition to not just say a microscope camera can capture the image, but that microscope camera also takes advantages of built-in hardware and software to enhance the imaging experience.

Using the definition, we can say that LCD Screen are part of microscope cameras, and it is usually useless for arranging for another PC for the microscope.

Using the definition, we can also say the device don't need to install driver or application, nor system compatible issue be concerned, but just starting camera then touch screen to view. Would you favor such a change in definition? And if so, what devices would make/ not-make your list?
