Coal activated carbon originates from coal that has undergone a steam activation process. To lower the ash, it can be processed after acid washing. The regular ash content after steam processing can be controlled bellow 8%. But after acid washing, the ash can be controlled as 5%. Coal activated carbon has mainly meso-pores and macro-pores. The main raw material for coal activated carbon is anthracite and bituminous.
The maximum Iodine value of anthracite activated carbon can be 1200mg/g. The maximum Methylene blue of bituminous activated carbon can be 230mg/g.
Coal activated carbon is widely used in gas phase purification, portable water purification, waste water purification and aquarium/pond water purification.
