Horse oil, as the name suggests, is oil that comes from horses.
It is made by blending the subcutaneous fat found in parts such as the root of the tail and the mane.

Because it closely resembles the oily secretions of the sebaceous glands,
it readily permeates the hard outer layer of the skin,

Storing horse oil
* The oil keeps for two years. In places where warm temperatures are experienced,
the oil should be stored in a refrigerator.
* The oil is of animal origin and customers who are bothered by its odor can leave the oil to
stand overnight after opening, before it is used.
* The oil can be kept for two years if it is stored in a refrigerator.
* Because it is an animal oil, the horse oil will partially harden if kept in a refrigerator,
and because is melts at body temperature, it can be applied in small quantities.
(Because horse oil is soft at room temperature, there is a tendency to apply too great a quantity.
When using the partially hardened oil kept in a refrigerator, however,
it is possible to use suitably small quantities.)
* If the horse oil is kept at room temperature, it will normally be in a liquid state.
