Product Introduction
Diosgenin, a steroid sapogenin, is extracted from the root of Dioscorea zingiberensis C.H.Wright. or other botanical resources. Diosgenin is a phytoestrogen, or a plant-based estrogen, that can be chemically converted into a hormone called progesterone which was used in early combined oral contraceptive pills, was used to make the first birth control pills in the 1960s. The unmodified steroid has estrogenic activity and can reduce the level of serum cholesterol. Diosgenin also has an obvious antitumor activity on S-180, HepA, U14 transplant mice in vivo and L929, HeLa, MCF cells in vitro. Steroid hormones has a strong resistance to infection, allergy, antivirus and resistance to shock the pharmacological function, is the treatment rheumatism, cardiovascular, lymphocytic leukemia, cells encephalitis, skin disease, anti-tumor and rescue the important drug use the critically ill patient.
