Special container is the container which doesn’t follow the requirements of the international standard containers, but meets the need of special cargo transport and in terms of structure and equipment is specially designed and equipped, being an extension of standard container in use. Its size and shape are determined according to the application, such as equipment container, engineering container, container for oil platform and fire protection container etc.

Classification of special container—because of different types of goods, there are many types of special containers as follows:

1. Open top container
It’s a container without tank top or container with open top, when carrying goods, need to use a crane to load in or unload out from the top of the container. After enclosing the goods, then cover the top with waterproof tarp to prevent goods from damaging. This kind of container is specially designed for ultrahigh goods such as glass, steel products, plywood, machinery and equipment, heavy goods that can be fixed by using side walls, as well as goods that can’t be loaded and unloaded from the side door but only from the top of container.
2. Solid Bulk Container:
It’s a container used to carry soybeans, rice, wheat germ, flour, animal feed and cement, resin, borax, chemical raw materials etc. bulk powder and granular goods. Using this container can save a considerable amount of packaging costs and improve handling efficiency.

3. Tank Container;Liquid Bulk Container:
It’s a container used to carry alcohol, oils, chemicals, hazardous goods and other liquid cargo. Such containers are equipped with applicable special structure and equipment to load this kind of goods. When loading, goods are put into the container from the hole at the top of the tank; when unloading, goods flow from the bottom hole by gravity, or are extracted from the top hole out.

In addition to above-mentioned special containers, there are some more specialized containers, such as power generator container, tank container, communication container, inverter container.
