What's ignition distributor?
The Ignition Distributor is a device in the ignition system, which is part of your car's internal combustion engine. It is located near the coil of your car's ignition system. Its function is to get the high-voltage pulse from the coil and supply it to the spark plug. The distributor has a rotor driven by the camshaft, located inside the distributor cap. The rotor, which is connected to the coil, spins inside the cap. The ignition distributor also fires the ignition coil and controls the timing advance.
The tips of the rotor come in contact (they don't actually touch) with the cylinders and pass a high-voltage pulse that comes from the coil. The rotor makes and breaks the contact with the spark plug, which forms a small gap. A high voltage energy passes from the rotor through this small gap.
