Use thread-in inserts in softer woods and plywood where their coarse outside threads cut easily into the surrounding wood. Simply drill a hole sized for the body of the insert, and screw it into place. In very hard woods, such as white oak and maple, or when the insert is close to the edge of a part and screwing it in may split the wood, drill a hole slightly larger than the outside thread diameter, and epoxy the insert in place. To protect the internal threads from epoxy, cover the end of the insert.

Function | An Insert Nut (with Flang) provides a threaded socket for a wooden work piece, similar to a wall anchor. Insert nuts are inserted into a pre-drilled hole by one of two means: screw in and hammer in. It can fasten other connecting pieces to profile's groove duct simply and safely.
Insert Nuts with flange provide a strong, permanent thread for wood and wood-based sheet materials. The incorporated flange alleviates splitting and prevents the Insert Nut from being driven in too far.
To install, simply screw the self-tapping body into the base material. The external thread ensures secure fixing and offers strong resistance to pull-out due to torsion or vibration. Typical applications include audio equipment, cabinets, chairs, desks and shop equipment.
