What's the main difference between silver mirror and aluminium mirror?
1) Price
Silver Mirror is much more expensive than aluminium mirror, because silver is more expensive than aluminium.
2) Technology
The process to make silver mirror is a chemical change(silver mirror reaction), while it's a physical change to produce aluminium mirror.
3) Performance
Silver Mirror is water-proof, better acid-resistant, but aluminium mirror can not be used longer in humid surroundings, and it's acid-resistance is not good. The image from silver mirror is a little reddish, because silver mirror contains copper content, but the image from aluminium more clear and original.
4) Applications
Aluminium mirror is usually used for furniture, cosmetic mirrors, chemical apparatus or any places that requires original images. While silver mirror has more widely used, like bathroom mirrors, safety backed mirror, finished mirror with different edge workings, etc.
5) Working Life
Silver mirror can be use longer than aluminium mirror. Usually silver mirror can be used 10 or more years, but aluminium mirror is about 5-8 years.
6) Environmental Performance
Silver Mirror contents copper, copper is heavy metal, will do some harm to the environment (except for copper free mirror); Aluminium mirror is copper free and lead free, will not cause any harm to the environment.
