Our greenhouse kits are designed to run mainline tubing around the base of each wall in the greenhouse, which allows for easy access from your mainline tubing to all your plants throughout your greenhouse.
How do you calculate total gallons per hour (GPH) in a drip irrigation system?
To calculate the total GPH running through your drip irrigation system you will need to add up all the
watering devices and their GPH ratings that you wish to install in your drip system. Below is an example:
Bob has 100 drippers throughout his drip irrigation system. Forty are .5 GPH, another forty are 1 GPH
and twenty are 2 GPH. How many gallons per hour is Bob running through his drip irrigation system?
40 x .5 GPH = 20 GPH
40 x 1 GPH = 40 GPH
20 x 2 GPH = 40 GPH
Total GPH = (20 + 40 + 40) = 100 GPH
This means Bob could use ½” or ¾” tubing as his mainline tubing. However, 100 GPH exceeds the maxi-
mum GPH allowed for ¼” tubing, thus he could not use ¼” tubing as his mainline tubing.
