The dead end sets have the main function to fix the optical fiber cables to poles or metallic towers. First it is put a protection rods to protect the optical fiber cable. On this rods is assembled the dead-end grip rods.
For OPGW the lay direction of the protection rods is the opposite to the outer layer of the cable, the lay direction of the dead end is the same to the outer layer of the cable.
In the all dielectric self supporting cables ADSS, the lay direction of the protection rods is left hand lay and the lay direction of the dead end is right hand lay. The area of the loop of the dead end mustbe protect with a suitable thimble.
