Carrom is one of the most popular indoor games  throughout South Asia mainly India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal etc. and has gained some popularity in Europe and the United States where it has been introduced by the Indian diaspora.

It is a scientific game and is based on physics and geometry.

Striker pieces are used to push the carrom men and the queen across the board to the pockets.

The International Carrom Federation (ICF) was formed in the year 1988 in the city of Chennai, India. The formal rules for the Indian version of the game were published in 1988. In the same year the ICF officially codified the rules.
