1.Where does JOY slate come from?
Our products are sourced from local slate quarries in Jiangxi province, which is very famous original place of slate in China. The slate rock from these quarries is very pure,black and exclusive raw material of slate plate/coaster/placemat etc.
2.What features does slate have?
Slate is a very durable rock formed in the earth over 200 million years ago. It has a very low absorption rate to water, which makes it great for outdoor conditions. Even with its thin properties, it very durable and strong which is why it is used in tableware,such as cheese boards,placemat,dish plate,food platter, cup coaster etc.
3.How to clean your slate?
All of our products are treated and sealed to be food safe. Soapstone, chalk, crumbs, and liquids wipe off easily with a damp sponge or towel. Our slate boards can also be washed with a sponge and dish soap. Slate boards that do not have EVA feet on the bottom are dishwasher safe.
4.How to care for your slate?
In order to preserve your slate board for years to come, wipe it down with a drop or two of food grade mineral oil about twice a year. Mineral oil helps protect the integrity of the slate and maintains a slightly polished look.
