Open the cover the bottle, and drop water into the bottle, and then press the button on the bottom of the bottle, the light on the bottom will flash, that means it is working, after a white, it wll automatically stop when it finish, and then you can drink the water.  

NOTE:  Do not cover the cap of the bottle when it is working, as it will ionize water to produce air.
