The rubber insulating gloves, if they are maintained in good condition and properly used within specified voltage limits, will protect the user from electrical shock hazards.

Proper use and care of rubber insulating gloves are essential to user safety. Do not wear rings, watches, jewelry and sharp objects on your hands or arms since they can cause damage to the interior of the rubber insulating gloves. That kind of damage wil negatively affect the protection afforded against electrical shock.

Except for Class 00 and Class 0 gloves, if using rubber insulating gloves without leather protectors you must use rubber insulating gloves that are at least one Class higher than that required for the voltage involved. If without leather protectors, said Class 0 gloves shall only be used at voltages up to and including 500V AC or 750V DC; while Class 00 only at voltages up to and including 250V AC or 375V DC.
