- 1. Technical Character:
- 3.1 Birds Protection Principle:
According to the research of the State Grid,there are more and more evidence to show that ground discharge trip caused by the birds droppings or something droppings.So there is a desgin to protest the insulator by a new device BCPD.
Consider the assemble angle,it is better to use a independent BCPD device which will get a better protection.
We can get from the picture left, β angle bigger,the protection effect better.L is the distance between BCPD shed to the bottom insulator shed,L bigger,protection range will be bigger.
Birds like to make them home on cross arm which is the top of the insulator ,Their dropping make the electrical field abnormal changing and the dropping make a bridge between the insulator shed,so that there are a lot of flash over or ground discharging problem happened. This BCPD device protect the insulator from two way,One is shield the bird dropping away to the insulator and frighten the bird fly away and don’t make the home here.
3.2 Ice Protection Principle
In Winter in the North area,snow ,in bad weather such as soft rime,freezing rain and heavy fog ,The transmission line suspension insulators are very easy to snows and freeze and become soft rime.especially on the composite insulator which have a smaller distance between each shed compared with porcelain insulator and glass insulator.If the insulator freeze ,it is very easy to go through the whole insulator set.when the sun rise out and the temperature get higher,the ice begin to melt .The melt water drop down from the edge of the insulator ,then the leakage current come up bigger ,and then there is a ice and water conduct way come out.then the electrical field change in abnormal way,so make the insulator electrical performance go down,and the flash over and discharge trip happened.Therefor to stop the ice and water bridge on the insulator set is the key point to avoid the ice flash over ,from the drawing above,we can get β angle bigger,the protection effect better.L is the distance between BCPD shed to the bottom insulator shed,L bigger,protection range will be bigger.
If we use a BCPD device with the diameter 620mm,It can be protect the length of insulator 850—1000mm,It 98% well protect the top the insulator,The BCPD Device somehow stop the bridge connection and avoid the discharge trip.The BCPD device protect the insulator during the raining day as well.
3.3 The Phase Sequence Distinguish Function,
BCPD Device can be three colors according the transmission line phase sequence .red ,green,yellow color represent phase A ,B ,C.
3.4 BCPD Device Appearance Design .
The diameter of the shed up to 620mm which is big enough to shield the length 800mm-1000mm,The surface design is according to aerodynamics character which is hard to polluted and can keep the insulator clean for a longer time.

3.6 BCPD Device installation Instruction:
It is very simple to install on line.Install the two part of of BCPD Device into ring of the suspension insulator ball fitting.I just need to fasten the 4 screw and it doesn’t affect the inspection people working along the conductor by the ladder.The BCPD devices are suitable with porcelain,glass and composite insulator .The inner hole of the BCPD device can be changed according to the power line fittings or insulator fittings which depends on the customers’ requirement.
