Use of highway guardrails
Highway guardrails are considered as passive protectors with a view to ensure the safety of the pedestrians by the wayside and the vehicles. Highway guardrails are designed in pursuance to the principle of keeping the vehicle inside the road in a secure way and at the same time minimizing the loss of life and property in case of an accident.
Advantages of highway guardrails
• It makes the road apparent.
• It prevents the pedestrians and the animals from entering the road.
• It ensures the safety of the drivers and the passengers by hindering the vehicles going off the road.
Description of highway guardrail, road guardrail
1. W-Beam (thrie-beams are also available)
2. Base steel: Q235 (S235JR / ASTM A283M) or Q345 (S355JR / ASTM A529M 1994)
3. Norma specification: 380*85*2.75/3/4*4128/4320mm or 306*80*2.75/3/4*4300mm
3. Hot dipped galvanized finish or powder coated.
4. Zinc coating thickness (double sides): 550 g/m2 (40µ) / 1100 g/m2 (80µ) / 1200 g/m2 (85µ)
5. Relevant parts required for guardrails: post, spacer (C, U and Sigma types etc) and fasteners
6. Other special specification as per client's requirement or drawings.
