1 Before and after each test wipe and dry probe

2 Gently insert probe, avoiding root ball , (insert to a depth just past the middle of the container)

3 The initial reading is accurate,after a few seconds the the needle may start to go back to its "at rest" point in the dry zone

4 Check each plant priorto wateringto prevent over watering

5 wipe off probe tip and store in a dry place after each test, do not leave meter in soil ,long term moisture at the tip will erode the accuracy of the unit
