Basis Weight Control Valves - Especially for the paper industryThe basis weight valve is one of the most important valves in a paper machine. A valve with proper valve characteristic, and an actuator with a high resolution, is required to produce paper with the right grammage (mass per unit area) within a narrow tolerance range.Basis weight valves in paper machinesThe paper grammage is continuously measured during operation of the paper machine. This is done with aball segment valve equipped with an electrical actuator. The actuator has a high resolution and in our case, we can provide a valve that gives a resolution of 1:8000. The stock flowing through the valve and its consistency is accurately controlled and with dilution in the short circulation and control of the wire speed, the desired basis weight of the paper is obtained.
