1. Brief Introduction
Sesame seeds come in many colors depending on the cultivar harvested. The traditional sesame is off-white colored. Others are buff, tan, gold, brown, reddish, gray and black.
Sesame seed is small in size. The form and color are various. Typically, sesame seeds are about 3 to 4 mm long by 2 mm wide and 1 mm thick, ovate shape, slightly flattened and somewhat thinner. The weight of a sesame seed is between 20~40 mg. The seed hull is stick closed to the seed and hard to remove.
As well-known Sesame Seed is one of highest oil content crop. If we use the improper method to take off the husk, it will cause the oil leak and nutrition loss. Initially we adopted traditional wet method to hull sesame seeds. But we have to use large amount of water to clean the residual of caustic lye during hulling section. Meanwhile the following drying processing will cause huge energy consumption and increase production cost. The wet hulling process will bring about industrial waste water. Once the sesame manufacturer doesn’t make treatment and drain out the waste water directly, it will cause environment pollution.
Nowadays we have developed the technology and designed the dry hulling process, which can remove the hull easy successfully. New type sesame de-huller is practically running in customers’ workshop.
2. Application
Those sesames seeds after hulling are called Hulled Sesame Seeds. As being nutritious, Hulled Sesame Seeds are extensively used in breads, burgers, sauces, cereals, crackers, spreads, drinks, granola, candies, soups & various other bakery and confectionary products to enrich its taste and nutritional values.
