About our product

The bland of the tea.

We selected matcha of Hekisuien which is an old-established tea store in Kyoto who produces the best matcha for our caramel. Hekisuien has consistently dealt with green tea (matcha, gyokuro, sencha, etc.) made in Uji, Kyoto. They were given a prize for old-established stores in Kyoto (called as "Kyo no Shinise") by the governor of Kyoto.

We pursue the texture which is easy to crumble and melt in your mouth. Controlling the size and the amount of sugar crystals allows it not to stick to your teeth. you can enjoy a cookie-like texture. After crumbled and melted in your mouth, the rich aroma and profound taste of Uji matcha combined with the rich flavor of milk and the sweetness of sugar create a wonderful harmony.  

Popularity of Matcha

Uji matcha has its roots in what monks of Zen Buddhism brought back from China in ancient time. Tea was established in their training life because tea has an effect of shaking off the sleepiness to keep awake. On the other hand, tea was also very luxurious back then and enjoyed mainly by people of power. "Sen no Rikyu" (1522-1591) who was a famous tea master in the late medieval times, had integrated  these two streams and perfected the tea ceremony. 

Among the visitors to Japan, matcha has become a standard flavor of the food items for souvenir with the growing popularity of tea ceremony.

Moreover, the popularity of matcha is getting higher among many cafes in the world. One of the major reasons is that matcha is good for health.
