Normal package of blackout fabric
a. one or two polybags.
b. inner packed by polybag, outer packed by weave bag.
c. inner packed by polybag and bubble bag, outer packed by weave bag.
d. inner packed by polybag, outer packed by card board tube if F.R.
e. around 30 meters per roll, 10% rolls with 2 pieces, minimum length of 15 meters and 1 defect per 10 meters are allowed.

1.What is the difference between 1, 2, 3 and 4 pass lining fabrics?
Linings (and blockout fabrics) are made by applying a polymer rubber coating to the back of a standard piece of fabric. The term ‘pass’ refers to the number of layers of the coating that are applied to the back of the fabric.
- 1 pass lining is often referred to as ‘dimout’ lining. With this lining you will not be able to see through the fabric, and you will cut out some UV glare, however sunlight will still shine quite strongly through the fabric. You will also notice some discolouration of the fabric as the sunlight tends to emphasise the yellow hues in any fabric.
- 2 pass lining is referred to as ‘twilight’ lining. Sunlight will still shine through the lining although it will appear a bit more ‘grey’ in colour - similar to a 1 pass lining in late evening light. 2 pass lining is not always offered as an option on coated fabrics as it isn’t really a popular choice for Australian climates.
- 3 pass lining is known as ‘blockout’ lining, and is the thickest lining that can be made. 3 pass lining is manufactured with two passes of vulcanised rubber sandwiching a layer of blockout silver paint. 3 pass lining will completely block out the strongest of sunlight, such that you can close your curtains during the day and completely darken the room.
- 4 pass lining is a recent advancement on 3 pass lining, and comprises the same 2 layers of rubber but with 2 layers of blockout silver paint rather than 1 layer used in 3 pass lining. There are minor thermal benefits arising from this additional blockout paint application however both 3 pass and 4 pass lining are considered to be 100% blockout.
