There are many problems associated with trimming by hand using snips or scissors. Till date, no acceptable technology or solution is available to cure the problems, as listed below:

1. Thread trimming needs to be done even if garments are produced on sewing machines with UBT (under bed trimmer).
2. Trimming by hand using scissors, is inconsistent, and dependent on workers skill.
3. Workers will always leave threads because they are scared to damage the garment.
4. Trimming by hand using scissors creates loose thread.
5. Trimming by hand using scissors creates loose thread removal operation.
6. Garments get cut due to scissors. Garments get rejected or have to be sent for alteration or part changing.
7. Seams get cut due to scissors. This is most visible in flat-lock and over-lock seams, which require frequent alteration.
8. Thread Trimming and loose thread removal is never complete and is continued in pressing, finishing and packing stages.
9. Loose threads are the root cause of plant un-cleanliness.
