Cleaning

  • It is very important to keep the device clean to ensure precise measurements. Before and after measurements, wipe the prism and its cover with a clean damp cloth.

Zero point setting (calibration)

  • Drip some distilled water on the prism, so that all of the surface is covered. Close the prism cover and, using the enclosed screwdriver, set the zero point. If the light-dark border is aligned with the lower line of the measuring scale, the zero point is set.

Measuring

  • After cleaning, take a sample from the tested fluid, using the enclosed pipette.
  • Open the prism cover, and drip enough sample fluid on the prismto cover the surface.
  • Close the prism cover and hold the device to the light.
  • Read the value through the sight window, if the image is too blurry, correct it by turning.
  • The respective scale value is to be read at the light-dark border.
