Description:
1.It is produced in a high temperature electric resistance-type furnace from a mixture of quartz sand and petroleum coke.
2.Silicon carbide is a man-made material manufactured through heating silica sand and carbon to high temperatures in the Acheson furnace technique.
3.Silicon carbide is an extremely hard material , is chemically inert and does not melt.
4. The hardness of black silicon carbide is greater than fused alumina but less than synthetic diamond.
5.Silicon carbide’s varied properties make it an effective material in many different applications.

Application:
1.As the abrasive: used for abrasive, such as grinding wheels, whetstone, grinding wheel, sand tiles etc.
2.Black silicon carbide is typically used for machining or finishing cast iron ,non-ferrous metals, stone, leather, rubber, and other materials where sharp cutting characteristics are important.
3.As the metallurgical deoxidizer .
4.Silicon carbide is very hard, with excellent thermal conductivity, as a semiconductor and high temperature resistant to oxidation.
