Flint Clay is a kind of high quality hard refractory clay origin from Zibo in Shandong Province, China. Standard flint clay ore Al2O3 content is 38%, Al2O3 content is about 44% after calcined, Fe2O3 < 2%. Stable composition, uniform texture,compact structure, cross section assumes the shells, white, used in the production of high quality clay refractory materials.
The Jargon of Flint Clay is the the first level hard clay grog, main chemical composition is SiO2 and AL2O3, accompanied by a small amount of Fe2O3 and trace Na2O, K2O, main mineral is kaolinite.

Specification and Test Index:
Chemical composition is stable, export level generally as follows:
(1) Al2O3: not less than 44%; Fe2O3: no more than 1.5%; B.D. : not less than 2.45 g/cm³;
(2) Al2O3: not less than 45%; Fe2O3:no more than 1.2%; B.D. : not less than 2.50 g/cm³;
(3) Al2O3: not less than 46%; Fe2O3: no more than 1.2%; B.D. : not less than 2.55 ~ 2.58 g/cm³;
In Additoon:K2O + Na2O + CaO + MgO : below0.5 ~ 1.0%.
The purpose of the chamotte and origin:
Market research shows that the composition and ingredient of the chamotte are complicated, no fixed structure and composition. The chamotte not easily dispersed in water, low plasticity. Known in China at present the chamotte for kaolinite clay mineral deposits. Sometimes there are associated with dickite and hydromica etc. mineral. The SiO2 and Al2O3 content ranges are small. From the chemical composition, it is close to the theory of composition of kaolinite (Al2O3 /3SiO2 = 0.85).In addition to the free silica, a small amount of iron ore and alkali metal oxide constitute the impurities.
The common colors of high temperature calcined chamotte contain white, light gray, yellowish brown, there is a small amount of brown metal material.The chamotte is of good heat resistance and sintering.

The chamotte is a mixture containing a variety of aluminum silicate. Main chemical composition is SiO2 and Al2O3, impurities are mainly alkali, alkaline earth and iron and titanium oxide, and some organic matter. Various oxides helps fusion, can reduce refractoriness of the materials. As a result, the impurity content in the chamotte, especially Na2O + K2O content is lower, the higher refractoriness. And the closer to the theoretical value Al2O3 /3SiO2 ratio (A/S = 0.85), that indicates the chamotte is higher purity. A/S more bigger, flint clay refractoriness is higher, the sinter melting range will be wide. The chamotte refractoriness with high quality can reach more than 1750 ℃.
The chamotte after high temperature calcination has a small volume stability, strength and water absorption properties. To measure the degree of the chamotte sintering indexes generally have true density, bulk density, porosity, water absorption, firing shrinkage rate, etc. Good sintering degree the chamotte bibulous rate is less than 5%, the volume density is greater than 2.55 g/cm³.
Origin:
The mainly origin of the chamotte is shandong province. Especially in Wangcun village,the quality is better,the chamotte whiteness and luminosity are good, and they are magnetic.
Purpose:
Used in the production of high-grade refractory materials, manufacturing ceramic, aluminum silicate refractory fiber production and military industry, etc.
